The WMS PTO appreciates the participation of our WMS families in our many fundraising events and activities.  With your contributions, the PTO is able to support the school and students in many ways including the areas of art, writing, math and science.

We encourage students, teachers, parents and staff to submit philanthropy requests.  We want to hear your ideas and thoughts on how to enrich and enhance Weston Middle School.  We vote on requests at the PTO General meetings.  Please attend and be a part of how our PTO fundraising dollars are spent.  If you have comments or a request, please contact our Philanthropy Chair, as listed on the WMS PTO Board Member web page.

Philanthropy Funding Request Application Process

The Weston Middle School PTO is a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to enhance the education of WMS students and promote understanding among the students, parents, faculty and administration of WMS, and the community.

The WMS PTO funds requests for projects, materials, and services that will augment the education of our students or the quality of life at WMS.

We look for one or more of the following factors in each request.

Does the project:

  • Provide educational support for WMS?
  • Develop or expand a significant service to WMS?
  • Improve the educational system or facilities of WMS or the district? Benefit a large number of students, staff, or administration?

Process

Completed Philanthropy Funding Request Application is submitted to Francesca Lirosi - Grodin, the WMS PTO Philanthropy Chair. Click here to download the form (this form is a WORD document you can fill in).

If the request is technology-related, it must first be approved by the district IT director.  Technology requests include equipment, software, electronic devices, etc.

The philanthropy chair reviews applications for completeness and obtains additional information if needed.

The philanthropy chair presents the request to the PTO Executive Board for a vote.  If the request is $250 or less, only Exec Board approval is needed.

If approved by the Exec Board, the Philanthropy chair presents it to the PTO General Board for a vote.

If approved by the General Board, the Philanthropy chair will contact the person/group requesting funds and give them the approval to proceed with the project.  If not approved, the Chair will inform the person and provide reasons if applicable.

Request for payment should be sent to the WMS PTO Treasurer.  Supporting documentation such as the invoice or purchase order should be scanned and attached when payment is requested.  Request for payment may also be submitted by placing a hard copy in the PTO treasurer mailbox in the WMS front office.

May is the final month philanthropy requests can be made for the current year.
